‘Coming back to CSK is special’
“Coming back to CSK is something special... to play in front of your home crowd is always an amazing experience,” said Murali Vijay to the CSK website on his return to the den ahead of the 2018 IPL season. The dashing opener had previously turned out for the ‘Lions’ between 2009 and 2013 with distinction, scoring 1600 runs.

“Firstly, I’m looking forward to getting back into the yellow jersey and enjoy (the feeling) and play some CSK brand of cricket. Exciting times ahead!” added Vijay, who was a part of both CSK’s IPL triumphs in 2010 and 2011.
Apart from the two titles, CSK also finished runner-up on four occasions and qualified to the playoffs in every season that it featured in between 2008 and 2015 to emerge as one of the most decorated franchises in the opening decade.
“Personally I am in a good head space and really looking forward to have a great time with CSK, and of course contributing to the team’s success is going to be my primary motive,” continued Vijay.
In the 2011 season, Vijay struck a 52-ball 95 in the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore to set up a winning total of 205-5 at Chepauk as CSK retained the title at home. The following season, Vijay hit a 58-ball 113 for his second IPL century to help CSK defeat Delhi Daredevils by 86 runs in Qualifier 2.
“Vijay has always done well in crunch situations for us in the past,” said KS Viswanathan, CEO, CSK. “He is someone who clicks in big games and we are confident that he will reignite that spark.”
