Vijay Hazare Trophy: Tamil Nadu has it easy against Gujarat

After being asked to bat, Tamil Nadu suffered an early setback losing its opener Murali Vijay cheaply. B Aparajith struck two boundaries in over but got out to a brilliant catch at mid-on for 16. Vijay Shankar’s classy knock was chanceless and he took time to settle down before chancing his arm. Gujarat medium pacer Bhargav Merai bowled an economical spell giving away 21 runs in his six overs. He claimed the wicket of B Aparajith who was wonderfully caught at mid-on by Hardik Patel for 16. 

TN crossed the 200-run mark in the 37th over and with eight wickets in hand, it looked like it would finish at 325. But soon after both Vijay Shankar and Kaushik scored their respective hundreds, they were dismissed and that triggered a mini-collapse as TN managed 30 runs losing four wickets in the last five overs. Allrounder Bhargav Merai’s gutsy century 101 (97b, 11x4, 1x6) only delayed the inevitable.
