The Indian team, of late, has enjoyed sublime form. The Virat Kohli-led side dominated the home season beating every formidable opponent. Thus, under the tutelage of Kohli and a newfound confidence, the current Indian team is expected to do wonders in the upcoming South Africa tour.

However, despite having one of the best teams on paper, the Men in Blue will face an uphill task in the Rainbow nation. India has never won a Test series in South Africa and the team will need to produce something special if it wishes to overturn its woeful fortunes.

Speaking of the upcoming challenge, former India all-rounder and 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny said it will not be easy for the Virat Kohli’s men to win against South Africa in the three-Test series starting Friday (January 5) in Cape Town. Binny feels the experts and fans are “getting carried away” with team’s successes at home and it will be a “big test” for Kohli both as captain and batsman in overseas conditions.

The 62-year-old conceded on Tuesday, “Definitely it is not going to be easy. We have just got off from all Indian pitches. The batsmen are all set in these conditions. It is not easy. They have to really play good cricket to come good. The wickets are not going to be batting friendly.”

He added, “Our record at home has always been 100 percent. But in Australia, England, South Africa where the bounce is different and there is movement off the seam we have struggled. That is the only drawback. We have to get over that. Our batsmen have to come good.”

The former World Cup winner opined that the South Africa tour will be captain Kohli’s biggest trial. The tour will test his captaincy and well as batting skills, and it is here that the 29-year-old needs to perform to establish himself as a leader of the game.
