MRF signs Prithvi Shaw
Tyre major MRF, which had the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Brian Lara and Steve Waugh on board, has signed India’s latest cricketing sensation, Prithvi Shaw.
Chennai
Prithvi Shaw is the current India U-19 captain for the ICC U-19 World Cup 2018 in New Zealand. Shaw, who is based out of Mumbai, came into the limelight in November 2013 after smashing 546 runs (off 330 balls) in a Harris Shield match, thus achieving the highest score ever by a batsman in Indian school cricket and fourth highest by any batsman in any form of competitive game in history.
Prithvi was selected for Duleep Trophy and he became the youngest batsman to score a century on debut while representing India Red against India Blue. Prithvi slammed a century in the first Ranji game of the season and with his recent century against Odisha, he has four First Class hundreds in the first five Ranji Matches.
MRF Chairman and Managing Director, KM Mammen, said. “Our brand ambassadors have always shone in their careers and have enthralled audiences across the globe. We are delighted to be a part of Prithvi’s cricket journey and I’m sure his special talents will hold everyone spellbound in the coming years. We wish him all the very best and welcome him to the MRF family”.
Prithvi Shaw was quick to acknowledge his selection. “I’m honoured and humbled to be playing so soon with an MRF bat as I have grown up watching my idols like Sachin sir, Brian Lara sir and now Virat sir playing with them and scoring tons of runs and bringing laurels. I am thankful to MRF for associating with me,” the Under-19 captain said.
