IOB took an early lead in the first set and dominated every department of the game. It led 11-4 courtesy of some outstanding service by experienced campaigner Naveen Raja Jacob. SRM tried to claw its way back into the contest but ended up losing it by a difference of six points.

SRM University started the second set on the front foot, leading 13-9 at the halfway mark. IOB made a strong comeback with a string of points towards the later stages of the set and eventually won it 25-21.

IOB controlled the proceedings in the third and final set, remaining in a commanding position from the start.

“We never expected to win the game in three sets. Having experienced players like Ukkrapandian and Naveen Raja Jacob certainly helped us in clinching the trophy,” said a jubilant Sundaram, coach of IOB.
