Vignesh rues batting failure for Tamil Nadu exit
Whatever level and format of cricket it may be playing, nothing seems to be going in favour of Tamil Nadu this season. It has been a perfect storm of a year as TN has bowed out of the group stages of Ranji Trophy and its U-23 team suffered an innings and 16 runs defeat at the hands of host Delhi in the semi-final of the Col CK Nayudu trophy.

It was an all-round disaster as barring wicket-keeper batsman N Jagadeesan and legspinner M Abhinav, no one else made his presence felt. On what was a batting friendly wicket, TN conceded much ground on the opening day when it made only 229. Of those, Jagadeesan's contribution was a lion's share of 113.
Delhi, then, piled on the misery by racking up a mammoth 479 and took a lead of 250.
TN pacer K Vignesh bemoaned his side's batting failure for the disappointing loss. "It was a good batting wicket. I think we lost the match the moment we scored only 229. It was a fantastic batting effort from Jagadeesan. He played aggressively regardless of wickets falling at the other end and it's a pity that none of the other batsmen could step up and offer him a helping hand," said the 23-year-old.
Vignesh pointed out that the Delhi bowling was not as fearsome as TN's failure indicates and that his batsmen could have played a little more responsibly and been more judicious in their shot-making. Another player that came in for high praise from Vignesh was the promising legspinner M Abhinav who took six for 115 in what eventually came in a losing cause.
According to Vignesh, the wicket had nothing in it for a fast bowler of his ilk to get excited about. "It was a slow track and the ball kept low regularly. Despite bending one's back, it was hard to get any purchase from the benign track,” signed off Vignesh.
