Tamil Nadu girls start on a winning note

Tamil Nadu’s PS Senior School and SBOA School and Junior College began on a winning note in the Inter-School Table Tennis National Championships at Vijayawada on Thursday.

PS Senior School tamed Maha Vidya Niketan from Bihar 3-0 to look good to advance to the knockout stage in the Junior Girls’ category. M Hansini and S Hrithika showed that it might be the team to beat as it walloped the hapless girls from Bihar. SBOA was equally dominant against Delhi Public School from Sonepat, downing them 3-0. 

Hansini set the ball rolling for the junior girls from Chennai, taming Sanaya Sahi 3-0. She comfortably won all three games 11-3, 11-7, 11-1. Hrithika was even more devastating, as she downed Dipali Raj 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 for another straight game victory. They then paired up to torment Sanaya and Vaishnavi 3-0 (11-2, 11-4, 11-4).

In the senior girls’ category, M Yazhini started the rout, beating Poornima Rohila 3-0 (14-12, 11-8, 11- 8); Y Vaishnavi then got the better of Ananya Dubey 3-2 (13-11, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10, 11-3) before the doubles pair of R Thrisha and R Soundarya had to douse Poornima Rohila and Gayatri Chaudhary’s fight. They eventually won 3-0 (1210, 12-10, 11-4).
