Local League: Kabaddi mats for KBD Juniors
The members of the Jeppiaar School team received kabaddi mats worth Rs 25 lakh as a token of appreciation from the Pro-Kabaddi League sponsors on Thursday.

These mats will be used in a yet to be built multi-speciality indoor stadium to encourage the sport among youngsters in the city.Â
The boys from Jeppiar School had earlier participated in the Chennai leg of ‘KBD Juniors’, conducted by Pro Kabaddi League. They made it to the final of the event and eventually lost out to Sonepat, Haryana.Â
Former Asian Games gold medallist coach Kasinathan Baskaran, Tamil Thalaivas player C Arun and Anupam Goswami, Lead Commissioner, Pro Kabaddi League participated in the presentation ceremony.
Rain plays spoilsportÂ
The matches between City I and Districts II and City II and Districts I in the TNCA Round Robin Under-14 tournament were called off due to incessant rain on Thursday. As the matches ended without a result, the points were shared among the teams. City I and Districts I remained at their overnight scores of 223 for two and 158 for seven respectively.

Incessant rain thwarted play on Thursday in the match between Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad in the CK Nayudu Trophy Cricket Tournament at NPR College Ground in Dindigul. Tamil Nadu remained at its overnight score of three without loss after one over. Earlier, Hyderabad had won the toss and elected to field.
