Unlike Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), TTSL-TN will be a good chance for fans to watch local talents. TTSL-TN will follow the same format as that of Mumbai Super League, in which each tie consists of nine matches, six singles and three doubles encounters.

The introductory edition will see eight teams battle it out for the coveted trophy. Hindustan King Pongs, Refex Avengers, Billroth Blasters and Mobie Chargers, La Black Thunder, Jeppiaar Smashers, Tigers and RK Rockers have been roped in for the first season of TTSL-TN.

The participating teams have been pooled into two groups of four each. Every team will square off against the other teams only once. The top two sides from the groups progress to the semi-finals and the winners from the knockouts will face off in the summit clash.

All eight teams will have a contingent of six members with one player each from the six categories for men, women, junior boys, junior girls, cadet boys and veterans.

The auction for TTSL-TT, where 60 players went under the hammer, was held in the city earlier this month. In all, 48 players were picked by the eight teams while Tigers’ E Prabhakaran emerged as the highest paid player after being snapped up for Rs 52,500. The tournament is organised by Indusports Pvt Limited, TNTTA and 11Sports.
