Narrow losses seal Tamil Thalaivas’ fate

Failing to capture crucial moments has hit the Thalaivas hard on numerous occasions having lost nine of their matchups with a margin of five or less. They are now left with four wins, 13 losses and two ties at the end of 19 meetings, declining at the bottom of the table in Zone B.  

If certain results go its way and if the Chennai based outfit succeeds in winning the remaining encounters, it would have a chance of finishing at the penultimate spot in the Zone B points table.  

Over reliance on Ajay Thakur had its impact when Prapanjan, Dong Geon Lee and Vineet Kumar failed to assist him during various stages of the game on numerous occasions. The swashbuckling raider played a lone hand capturing 77 points over a period of seven days averaging 13 points per game. The experienced Amit Hooda has had a disastrous home leg with the other defenders failing to cope with the pressure in front of their home fans in Chennai. 

“We are disappointed at not winning any of our games at home. We are blessed to have such a fan base despite our poor performances. I am now aiming to finish the season on a high with three wins in our upcoming matches in Jaipur and Pune. I take this (referring to this season) as a challenge and I am confident we will come back stronger in the next edition”, said Baskaran after the defeat against Bengaluru Bulls.
