Thalaivas faces a must-win clash against Titans
The Tamil Thalaivas has an uphill task ahead after the ‘Inter-Zone Challenge Week’ came to a close here on Sunday. The Chennai based franchise will have to win all its remaining encounters (three in Chennai, one in Jaipur and two in Pune) to have any chance of making it to the ‘Super Playoffs’ at VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 5.

After a rest day on Monday, the Thalaivas locks horns against the Rahul Chaudhari led Telugu Titans followed by clashes against fellow ‘Super Playoffs’ contenders UP Yoddha and Bengaluru Bulls. Coming on the back of three consecutive defeats, the home side would be relieved to face some of their counterparts from Zone B after dismal performances against the teams from the other zone.
The home side would hope that its experienced Ajay Thakur continues in fine fashion after grabbing 13 and 10 points respectively in the previous two meetings. Crucial errors in the later stages of the game from both offense and defence have always been a cause of concern. The track record of the Thalaivas in the first half has also been abysmal throughout the season. It has failed to compensate for their early errors in the final 20 minutes in most of its encounters.
“We have done everything possible (referring to the rotation in the starting seven) to open our account at home. Luck is certainly not favouring us this season. I still have faith in my players and believe that we can make it to the final-6 by winning all our upcoming matches. I will make sure that the players come out guns blazing in our game against Telugu Titans on Tuesday”, said an optimistic Kasinathan Baskaran after the loss against U Mumbai.
