53rd All-India basketball tournament for men begins

IOB Chennai beat KSEB 77-66 in the inaugural match. A. Aravind top scored for IOB with 22 points, followed by Prasana Venkatesh with 19 points. With 19 points Gineeb Benny top scored for KSEB. 

In the second match, the Punjab Police beat Arise Steel 88-57 though both teams maintained even scores at 17 in the first quarter. Punjab started showing dominance from the second quarter when the score was 44-36. 

In the third quarter the Punjab team scored 28 points while Arise was able to score a mere 12 points. Finally, Punjab Police went ahead to win the game with a massive 31 point lead. 

Gujinder Singh top scored for Punjab with 22 points, followed by Kanbir Singh (18) and Amjyot Singh (16). Arun Prasanth top scored for Arise Steel with 13 points. 

Vijaya Bank managed to beat RCF 79-66 in the third match though RCF was leading the game 23-19 in the first quarter. RCF was leading the game 36-33 at the end of the third quarter and 52.46 in the third quarter. 

However in the last quarter Vijaya Bank scored 33 points while RCF could score only 14 points, to lose the game.
