Chaturved happy to be among runs for Thiruvallur Veerans
NS Chaturved, who scored 89 for VB Thiruvallur Veerans, felt his side got a good total on Sunday. The main batsman for Veerans said the side was looking for a total of 140 in Tirunelveli but his partnership with Siddharth have it a boost.

“We thought 130-140 will be a good score but having been at the wicket for a few overs, we thought we could open up a little bit. It was a very good wicket. They bowled a little faster; had they bowled slower it would have been a different story. The pitch was good because they bowled faster,” said Chaturved after his side beat Ruby Trichy Warriors.
The Veerans opener, whose 89 came off 59 balls with eight fours and three sixes, felt for any good total a good start is important. “On any wicket, a good start is important. When we hit 30-40 runs in first 3-4 overs, we will get a different momentum altogether and obviously, we had a little luck also. We capitalised on it and scored 182,” recounted Chaturved.
The opener said he was happy that he could repay the team for the faith it had on him. “I had a very average year last year. I wanted to time the ball well and be in good shape so that I can launch once I am set,” he said and added his team could have got to 200 had his opening partner Siddharth not run himself out after they put on 125 in 14.2 overs. “He was just starting to open up. I love batting with him and we complement each other. When he scored boundaries, I was able to rotate the strike and vice versa,” he said of his partner.
Chaturved felt he could have played the short ball that got him out better. “I was little bit confused either to hit straight or square and ended up playing a half shot. Had I taken a better decision, I could have scored a boundary or played the delivery much better,” he explained.
