Super Giant hopes for turnaround
Keen to put its dismal performance behind it, Madurai Super Giant hopes to turn the tables around in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Premier League with a newlook and a ‘calm’ squad.

Addressing the media post a practice session at the M A Chidambaram Stadium, Super Giant captain KB Arun Karthik and coach Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan said the team, with nine new players, is a rejuvenated squad.
“Going back to last year, some team or the other must finish last and it happened to us. This time we have a good squad and an experienced coach in Vidyut. He brings calmness to the side, a quality we lacked last year. We are calm and composed and we have the required experience to put up a better show this year,” Karthik said.
The skipper added the team has done the homework in picking the right players in the draft.
“The credit for that should go to the coach and the support staff for working on the strategies well,” he noted. Vidyut said sticking to the basics would be the key for Super Giant this year. “We need to do the simple things well. We have the resources.
We have youngsters taking up the roles. It is all about not taking pressure. We have to be smart and cool,” the coach explained. After playing the longer format of the game in the first division league, Vidyut said as cricketers it is all about adaptability.
“It is not easy to get back into T20 mould from the longer format. I have faith in my players that they would respond well. It would be interesting to see how it goes. I am sure we will have two or three players who would stand out for us. It is all about how they handle pressure and adapt to the conditions,” Vidyut said.
