Sabari, Chandra best athletes

A Chandralekha of Indian Bank won the 100m in 11.8 seconds in the women’s section and was selected the best women’s athlete. St Joseph’s Sports Academy won the overall championship with 281 points while Arise Steel came second with 175 points. In the men’s section, St Joseph’s were champions in both men’s (138 points) and women’s (143) sections. 

Earlier, on the first day, S Mithravarun of Arise Steel set a new meet record when he won the discus  event with a throw of 47.14 metres. Soorya B of St Joseph’s Academy, who finished second, was 3.2 metres behind the winner while SS Bharathi also of St Joseph’s was a further two metres behind. 

U Gokulnath of Do or Die Unit, Salem won the pole vault clearing 4.7 metres, with Thanga Vasanth of St Joseph’s Academy coming second with 4.7 meters. In the women’s section, I Egnesh of SDAT, Chennai won the 10000 metres in 39:42.8 seconds. K Ananthi of St Joseph’s Academy came second in 20:32.4 seconds. SDAT, Chennai had another winner in K Priya, who won the 1500 metres in 4:48.5 seconds.
