Pakistan draw a blank after govt. rules out providing visas
The participation of Pakistan players in the upcoming Pro-Kabaddi season five was further put into jeopardy when the sports minister Vijay Goel said the present political situation wasn't conducive to issue visas for them.
New Delhi
Hours before the fifth season's players' auction started here, Goel said, "There are many leagues and every league can invite Pakistan players. However, they (the league) have to come to the government for visas and given the current political scenario, inviting Pakistan players to India is ruled out."Â
Needless to say, all Pakistan players remained unsold on the first day of the auctions. They, however, are moved to the reserve list and will come up for auction on Tuesday.Â
U-Mumbai skipper Anup Kumar said he would love to see Pakistan players participate in the league. "I think it would be good if they come. Our job is to play and if those players come here, both them and us will feel good playing with each other. But if they do not come, it doesn't change anything as we are professional players and we continue playing. Personally I feel our sport will be better if we play together, " Kumar added. Â
