And there was a reason behind Guardiola’s short trip to Paris. The Spanish boss was on a scouting mission to get the lowdown on Monaco ahead of City’s Champions League tie with the current Ligue 1 leaders. 

Russian TV host Victoria Lopyreva took to Twitter on Sunday to post a photo of herself watching the much-anticipated clash with Guardiola at the Parc des Princes. And Guardiola won’t have left Paris in the most confident of moods. 

Bernardo Silva struck a stoppage-time equaliser to clinch Monaco a 1-1 draw against title rivals PSG as the visitors moved above Nice on goal difference at the top of the table. 

The Monaco playmaker fired home a low shot from outside the box in the second minute of time added on to cancel out Edinson Cavani’s late penalty for PSG. 

Guardiola’s side host Monaco at the Etihad in the Champions League on Tuesday, February 21 in the round of 16 first-leg tie and the former Barcelona boss will know he has a very tough task on his hand.
