The win sent Delhi Dynamos to the top of the table with 16 points while Chennaiyin FC slipped to sixth on the table. Dynamos broke the deadlock in the first quarter of an hour when Richard Gadze took advantage of an empty net. Malouda managed to win the ball from Siam Hanghal and darted towards the box before shooting on target. Chennaiyin custodian Karanjit Singh couldn’t hold on to the ball clean and Gadze reacted promptly to latch onto the rebound and tap the ball into the empty net. Ten minutes later, Dynamos’ marquee player doubled the lead when Gadze set him up on a platter. Malouda stroked the ball into the bottom left corner with his left foot as the Chennaiyin goalkeeper was caught unawares. Chennaiyin pulled one back in the 37th minute when Bernard Mendy went past three men before unleashing a low drive from inside the box to beat the keeper at the near post.

Dynamos restored their two-goal lead in the 54th minute when Malouda passed to Kean Lweis who finished with a neat strike into the far corner. Chennaiyin couldn’t keep Malouda quiet as he headed Badara Badji’s cross to score Delhi’s fourth goal.  The talismanic marquee had a whale of a time in the middle scoring two goals and providing two assists.
