Chennaiyin FC lost 1-3 against a rampaging Delhi Dynamos and Materazzi has always admonished his team for the poor performance against Delhi Dynamos, coached by Gianluca Zambrotta, his former Italian teammate with whom he won the World Cup in 2006. The teams now meet again at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday and it is clear Materazzi will settle for nothing less than a victory after a disappointing run of three draws in the last three matches.

“Delhi are a confident team. They did well against us in our home match but every day is different. Marco has some strategy to play against Delhi. There is a chance, we will have a different team, and strategy may be different (as well). It will be a tough match playing away,” said assistant coach Sabir Pasha said.

Vineeth strikes late as Blasters beat Goa

Kerala Blasters’ Kervens Belfort slotted a penalty just after halftime to cancel out FC Goa’s Rafael Luiz’s ninth minute goal and C K Vineeth scored the winner in stoppage time as Blasters beat Goa 2-1 in their ISL match here. Goa’s Richarlyson Felisbino took a free kick from the deep where Luiz nodded the ball with power through Graham Stack’s legs. Later, Gregory Arnolin blocked the ball with his hand and the referee pointed to the spot and sent Arnolin for an early shower. Belfort then converted the spot kick with ease. Vineeth turned the savior when he slipped the ball past the keeper as Kerala took three vital points.
