The expo will have more than 150 stalls including 90 air-conditioned ones and the products of some of the leading manufacturing houses such as TVS will be exhibited.

“Young entrepreneurs will be encouraged if they visit the expo and it will give the necessary thrust to the MSME sector,” said Murari, President, Madurai District Tiny and Small Industries Association (MADITSSIA).

There would be no entry free and the expo would be inaugurated by Madurai Collector, K Veera Raghav Rao. Ravi Kumar, Zonal General Manager, National Small Scale Corporation Ltd will also be present.

Speaking to media persons about the expo, Murari, said that historical documents such as Silapathikaram had mentioned that Madurai was the centre of Pearls and Weaponry manufacturing.

“But today various businesses have developed in Madurai and rubber industry has taken centre stage, which makes business to the tune of more than Rs 4,500 crore per annum. Unlike Coimbatore and Tiruchy, where a dedicated industry thrives, Madurai has varied businesses,” he said.
