Local League: Path-breaking training trip for JIT
In a unique initiative, a basketball club team from Chennai was sent on a training mission to the US last month. JIT, with head coach Ravishankar Sharma and four players, attended a one-month camp in Florida from June 20 to July 23 returning with tons of experience.

The five-member JIT team consisted of four students and head coach Ravishankar Sharma, Moin Beik, Jeyavenkatesh, Anantharasu and Navas Jaleel attended the training stint. The club got the chance to be part of the training at the IMG Academy after it outclassed some of the major teams in the country to win the IMG Reliance all-India inter-collegiate tournament in Delhi. The director of the club Marie Wilson decided to give his team a shot in the arm after the encouraging performance last season. “The camp has been good and the boys have learned many great skills. Surely, it will help them develop further,” hoped Ravishankar.At the IMG Academy in Florida, coach Vince Walden imparted training to the players. “We have learned so much in Florida and the coaches have done a lot to help us with our future and career,” said Moin Beik, the star of JIT.
