Local League: Robin Bist smashes ton as Rovers thump Nelson

Batting first, Jolly Rovers piled on a massive 201 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs with Bist sizzling with 16 boundaries and one six in his 59-ball knock. 

Bist added 73 in 44 balls with R Sathish, who chipped in with 28 in 22 balls, and later added 72 in 35 balls with Jayant Yadav (28 off 17) to lift Rovers to a commanding total. 

In reply, Nelson found the going tough as the batsmen crumbled under pressure in search of quick runs. The only notable partnership of 50 for the third wicket between Vasanth Saravanan and R Srinivasan came at more than run-a-ball (52), that stood a testimony for Rovers’ neat bowling.

Left-arm spinner J Syed Mohammed was the pick of the bowlers for Rovers with 3/12 in his 4 overs.

Elsewhere at CPT-IP ground, Alwarpet Cricket Club registered a narrow three-run win over India Pistons Cricket Club. Batting first, Alwarpet CC, riding on Ankeet Bawane’s 53 in 47 balls, scored 151 for the loss of eight wickets. M. Prabhu sizzled with the ball for India Pistons picking up four wickets for 32 runs in his four overs. 

Chasing, India Pistons fell three runs short as Prabhu and R Karthikeyan could only manage 9 runs in the final over bowled by R. Vishal with Prabhu falling in the last ball by offering a catch to D Chandrasekar.
