Local League: Chhattisgarh edges South Central Railway
Sharanjeet Kaur and Riya Verma took 24 points each as Chhattisgarh beat South Central Railway 67-60 in the loser’s final in the Arise Steel Cup all-India basketball tournament at the Santhome Higher Secondary School indoor court here on Sunday.

South Central Railway started on a bright note by scoring 18 points in the first quarter with Chhattisgarh managing only nine.
However, Chhattisgarh bounced back with a strong reply in the second quarter with 22 points to take the upper hand while SCR managed only seven. Chhattisgarh held on to a slender lead in the third (18-17) and drew even in the fourth (18-18) and emerged victorious in the end.
RESULT:
Women: (Loser’s final): Chhattisgarh 67 (Riya Verma 24, Sharanjeet Kaur 24) beat South Central Railway 60 (Jilna Jose 17, Sukanya L 12).
Men: RCF Kapurthala 70 (Prakash Mishra 20, Jaskaran Singh 12, Harman Deep 11, Bijender Kumar 10) beat Vijaya Bank 48 (Sanjay Raj 16, Karthik 14).
