Chris Gayle, West Indies batting stalwart, suffered a left hamstring twinge while fielding in the World T20 Super 10 stage match against Sri Lanka

“Chris Gayle suffered a left hamstring twinge. He will notbat. It is not a major injury, please don’t speculate,” said a West Indiesspokesperson. Gayle left for the dressing room before the end of Sri Lanka’sinnings even as the almost full crowd at Chinnaswamy stadium started chanting‘We want Gayle’ to see the smasher in action after the West Indies startedtheir chase of 123 runs.
Naturally, Bengaluru would back Gayle because he is theirlocal boy (Royal Challengers). The crowd did not know he was injured initially asthe openers went out to bat in the West Indian chase without Gayle.
Despite the announcement by the West Indies spokesperson,the giant screen notified the crowd that Gayle will come to bat if AndreFletcher or Andre Russell get out but both saw their team home. There was somedrama when the two were batting as Gayle was seen getting ready to bat on thesidelines.
