It was Vijay Shankar who hogged the limelight as he sizzled with both bat and ball for Vijay CC. Batting first, Vijay CC were dismissed for 219, with Shankar top-scoring with a fine 105. The rest of the batsmen fell to Jolly Rovers’ spinners Piyush Chawla (5/39) and K Vignesh (4/62) who bowled a good line and length. Rovers’ joy was short-lived as they fell four runs short of Vijay’s first innings total. R Sathish waged a lone battle with 82 but as wickets kept falling at the other end, Sathish couldn’t complete the task at hand. Shankar picked up four wickets while L Vignesh chipped in with three.

In the second innings, B Aparajith (125) stitched a 144-run stand with D Anchit (42) as Vijay declared their second innings at 203/6 in the 69th over. In the remaining 17 overs left in the day, Rovers scored 17 runs as the target score was 208.

In other matches, Grand Slam CC registered a 10-wicket victory over AG’s Office while Globe Trotters managed to gain a crucial first-innings lead for five points against Alwarpet at Pachaiyappa’s College.

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals of the First Division league.

In the Plate division, India Pistons managed to take a first innings lead over Nelson Sports Club to pocket five points. Elsewhere, at SSN College ground, Young Stars CC came to the fore with an innings and 114-run win over ICF.
