    Every moment is a choice

WONDERING about choices we make in life. And, often we are misguided by our own choices we think we make the greater choice I make, will make all the difference in my life.

Big things. But life shows that it’s the smaller things in which we indulge making choices makes all the difference. At any given moment, we are in three situations: spiritually speaking, either I can vibrate with the grosser or, I can vibrate the highest and third is, I remain status quo - that I do nothing. But in Nature, there is nothing like a status quo - either you will be pushed up or pushed down. Like anything in nature, it requires an effort to make things better.

To transform anything, it requires an input of a higher order. If you don’t have the passion to change and transform ourselves, we will not be exerting ourselves for this transformation. In the absence of exertion, external effort or internal inspiration, one tends to go always downward. This is entropy. What is entropy? Left to things, any system, however stable, will decay. So is our human system - be it physical, emotional or mental or be it spiritual. If it is left alone without doing anything, it will tend to decay. That’s why at physical level, we exercise etc. At mental level, we do so many other things to enrich our mind. Spiritually, we are doing our best. Most of us are meditating well. Much more is required. What do we do, when we are not meditating? How we are spending those moments? Because those moments also are decisive. How to tap into the finer frequencies of our nature. By fine-tuning ourselves by making make ourselves even subtler than previous state or previous moment which ultimately leads us to the most refined state but this the craving has to be there – I have to change. I have to match with the great ones. I must cherish all these moments of transformation. If you think it is a burden to transform ourselves, then nothing will happen. So, let’s take advantage of every single moment in our life and get hooked with the inner consciousness. The state we are able to acquire during meditation, needs to be extrapolated during our day-to-day life. That’s all. And if possible, the effort should be to prevent from keeping it at status quo like whatever attained in the morning. The endeavor must to try and escalate so that it becomes more and more refined. And as it does become more refined, the practitioner will be able to maintain his/her centredness.

Now, I would like to give you a practical understanding of entropy. For instance, you bring a book home from the library, and then your father gives you another book as a gift. Your girlfriend gives you magazines, and you have music CDs. They all pile up on a small table in your room, so now there will be enough clutter on your table. The rest of your room is also in a disorganised state: your clothes are here, your socks are there and your towel is hanging somewhere. This is a disintegrated system; the system has gone haywire.

You get frustrated with the mess and clean everything up. You put each book where it belongs, wash your laundry and make your bed. Now the room looks cleaner than before, until again you start bringing more books and things, and again the system disintegrates and becomes disorganised. To keep things in order requires constant energy input.

So entropy is the degree of disorder or randomness in any system. The second law of thermodynamics says that entropy increases with time. It reflects the instability of a system over a period of time if there is nothing to stabilise it.
