Deepavali, celebrated on Amavasya is referred to in the Katha Upanishad and Skanda Purana as a day of great importance, to connect with the Divine. The Katha Upanishad narrates Lord Yama’s revelation of the ultimate knowledge of the self to Nachiketa. That the only path to true happiness and prosperity is finding the light within.

This day signifies the power of a human to connect with the Divine cosmic light within called deepoli. Deepavali isn’t a religious ritual, but a science to experience everlasting peace and prosperity. Deepavali is not a day’s celebration, it is the preparation to enjoy your whole life as a celebration.

For this to be possible, it’s necessary to eliminate existing negativity and negative karma, the reasons for obstacles in growth and happiness. Deepavali Amavasya is celebrated as Lakshmi puja and Kaali puja too. On Kaali puja you remove all that stops you from peace and prosperity; your ego and negativity.

Removal of negativity is the very source of spiritual and material growth. Hence celebration of both, Kaali puja and Lakshmi puja. Celebrate Deepavali with the best outfits, decorate the home with lamps, fragrance and beauty and along with enjoying sweets, share sweet words.

This celebration is a reminder to oneself that ‘from this day on, my entire life is blessed with spiritual and material abundance.’ Deepavali is celebrated by many cultures and faiths.

Apart from India, it is celebrated in Malaysia, Singapore, America, Ghana, Mauritius, Fiji, etc.

Other beliefs revere this day too. Jainism believes this to be the day Mahavir attained moksha.

Buddhism that greatly believes in the law of karma, celebrates Deepavali by worshipping Lakshmi because on this day one can raise their consciousness to eradicate negativity and welcome prosperity.

Deepavali is the highest time to experience the presence of divine within. To experience light over darkness, good over evil, truth over untruth and wisdom over ignorance. And above all, hope over fear.

Celebrate the possibility of union with the Divine and a life of health, wealth, true knowledge, peace and happiness awaits you.

Wishing you all a Happy Deepavali! Aham Brahmasmi!!
