    Meditate to overcome stress, depression

    Today the world is focussing on health more than ever before. People are turning towards medicine, healthy living, exercise, etc both to prevent and to cure diseases and disorders. But where health is concerned, one’s knowledge is of little use and medicines have a limited impact, because what contributes the maximum to physical and psychic diseases is stress and depression.

    Is it possible that we, the most advanced species on this planet, live without stress and depression? We may have the knowledge to eliminate its causes, but it is impossible to have a society where people are free from stress and depression. 

    The primary reason for stress is commitment, and commitment is unavoidable until one’s last breath. We have a choice to fulfil or not fulfil our personal desires, but one can never avoid commitment. 

    Every relationship/ role comes with its commitments and with it, the pressure to live up to those commitments. We need not live up to other people’s expectations, but cannot escape delivering on our own commitment. 

    A human being has three types of commitments. Firstly, personal commitment towards one’s health and well-being. Secondly, commitment towards your relationships-- the need to give and receive love and acceptance. 

    And finally, towards one’s self-esteem where one is committed in terms of time and money. You might avoid the personal and relationship commitments but not the ones linked to time and money; because these two aspects govern even the smallest human desire. 

    One has a desire to enjoy life, but if the time and money required to enjoy the desire are not available, it leads to stress-- the helplessness of wanting to do something and not being able to do it. 

    To overcome this, one takes all possible efforts based on past experience and knowledge. But one needs to realise that every consequence is because of past karma. It is only by the elimination of the source of karma that the consequence will be eliminated too. 

    To be free of past karma, one needs to raise one’s consciousness and a way to do this is through meditation. Meditation gives expected results even in unexpected situations. 

    The results one is unable to achieve though knowledge and skill, are made possible with meditation. Through meditation one raises one’sg consciousness, where the individual is part of the universe and the entire universe is part of the individual. 

    One now sees the entire universe creating conditions for him to experience all the peace and happiness. It is the untold divine rule that when a fraction demands, totality must supply. 

    Connecting with the divine consciousness through meditation is the only solution to end stress and depression and for all humanity to experience true and lasting inner peace. Wishing you a life of peace, success and happiness Aham Brahmasmi!!
