They wanted to maintain their level of standard, so didn’t mind paying such a price. After purchasing all they needed, they called a porter to deliver the purchases at their home. The porter, an old man, did not look very healthy. Plus, his clothes were torn, but the couple felt no sympathy.

The porter asked for Rs 20, way below the market rate, but  the couple bargained with the porter and agreed to give only Rs15, which they paid in advance. The porter had not earned anything for many days, therefore he agreed to deliver. The couple went home, happy with their bargaining. However, hours passed and the porter failed to deliver. The wife thought the man had disappeared with their purchases. The couple then rushed back to the supermarket. On the way, they ran into a young man, with  all their goods.

The angry wife asked him, “Where is that old thief? This is our stuff and he was supposed to deliver it. It seems you thieves are stealing our stuff”.

The man said, “Madam, Please calm down. That poor old man has been sick since last month. He collapsed and died while he was on your job. His last words were, “I had taken an advance for this delivery, you please deliver to this address”.

Moral: Honesty has no class. Respect everyone, regardless of their financial and social status. It’s always a good idea to give more to the one who needs it the most.
