    Prayer for positive change

A young man once asked me, “Guruji, is it wrong to wait? How long should I wait for what I want?”

To understand the answer to this question, one needs to understand what waiting is, and the subtle difference between patience, tolerance and waiting.

An expectant mother does not wait for ten months. She knows she needs to go through a process for ten months to deliver a healthy child. This is patience. Waiting with the understanding, ‘This is how something has to happen, this is the way it can happen and this is the only way it has to happen,’ is patience. We don’t wait for the sun to rise. There is no uncertainty here.

Consider another example; you’re sitting in your office, scheduled to start work at 9 but your employees come in only by 10. Now this is tolerance; accepting something you don’t deserve keeping other’s emotions in mind.

Irrespective of what we’re waiting for, waiting is expecting someone or something to change for you. It can never happen. When you wait, you don’t just wait; you worry too. The Divine has not given us time, but has given us life. The biggest mistake is waiting for something or someone to change for you. An unfailing formula to see one’s manifestations faster and easier is understanding that, ‘Waiting is a waste of time and worrying is a waste of life.’

If you want to live a life you want to live, you need to stop the life you don’t want to live. Or to put it differently, the only way to stop the life of suffering you don’t want to live, is to create a life you want to live. How does one do that? By not waiting for change in a person or situation, and through Prayer.

Prayer is the essential need to bring about the positive changes we want in life. But prayer is not praising the Divine. This cannot bring about real change. Real prayer is the ability to see for yourself that which you want others to see and which you want for yourself as an experience in physical reality. Worry is a negative prayer; where you see for yourself what you don’t want to have as an experience in physical reality. The first step to stop the life you don’t want to live is to stop worrying and stop waiting for anything. When you worry, consciously tell yourself, “This isn’t just a worry I have in mind, this is going to be my physical experience in reality.”

Start positively changing what you want to change for yourself, through prayer. That which you see with your eyes closed with awareness in the state of Divine consciousness, the universe, has to produce as a reality for you to see with your eyes open. No power has the power to stop your manifestation!

Wishing you a life of success and abundance. Aham Brahmasmi!!
