Make a new beginning, taste success

Everybody is preparing to celebrate the festive season. It started with Christmas and goes on to the New Year, followed by Pongal. But what do we really celebrate?

We celebrate success; because only we humans can celebrate success. This is not for any other being.

However, to celebrate success, it is important to first understand what success is. Simply put, when the present output is better than the previous output, it is called success. It is simpler to understand this concept in the technology world; the meaning of success and the difference between ‘successful’ and ‘latest’. Consider a new model of a car, it is called a success if the parameters such as fuel efficiency, pollution, comfort etc. are better than its previous model for the same input. If they are not, then it might be ‘latest’ model, but not a successful one.

Unfortunately, we have misunderstood ‘latest’ for ‘success’. And we keep seeking something new, could be physical possessions or experiences or relationships in the name of being successful in life. What use is the latest and best car if you use it to visit your doctor? Or receiving a large sum of money, but as a debt? Or going on an exotic holiday with the person you don’t get along with? Is this success? You will agree with me, it is not and can never be true success. Likewise, the success of another person can at most be a source of momentary pleasure but should never be confused for one’s own success. Your success is your success alone.

It is important therefore that one understand the parameters of success. Only when one knows the parameters of suc

cess is it possible to set measurable goals and create a better and successful future. True success is that which will genuinely give you better health and more happiness, peace and prosperity without a compromise to even one of these parameters.

By nature, the incredible power that humans possess is the power to see the invisible, do the impossible and achieve the unimaginable. We are also blessed not just to survive but also select the future we want, and attain it successfully. Knowing how to measure your own success, one should waste no more time and energy digging up the past, instead focus on a bigger, brighter and better future and gift themselves a new life and a new beginning to the rest of their life.

Wish you and your family a Happy New Year and a life of peace, success and happiness. Aham Brahmasmi!!
