What’s it about? Well, Marcus fried water. Yes, you read it right. Marcus took a little ice globe and managed to fry it successfully. The video shows him dipping the ice globe in what looks like flour or cornflour, followed by whisked eggs and finally he dunks it in breadcrumbs. The ice globule is then put carefully in a fryer full of hot oil.
A few minutes later, the fried water pakora is ready and shifted to a plate. Marcus cuts the globule open and tastes the fry as the water oozes out. His remark is clearly heard: “That is the blandest fried thing I’ve ever tasted.” Not that we expected any different. However, the experiment is not as clear-cut as it seems.
The YouTube user added calcium alginate to his recipe, a substance that surrounds objects with a membrane that allows them to hold a shape. The added ingredient prevented the water and flour globule from imploding into a gloopy mess.
The video comes with a clear warning: “This is potentially very dangerous,” the YouTube user wrote in the video’s description. “If water leaks out while the sphere is frying in hot oil, it may explode sending scalding oil everywhere. Do not attempt without proper safety precautions.”
