According to sources, Murugesan (42) of Maniyarampatti here was a habitual drunkard and often quarreled with his wife Panchavarnam (38). Late on Friday, Murugesan returned home drunk and reportedly assaulted his wife, who then struck him to death with an iron pipe. Panchavarnam was held, and investigations are on.
