CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president actor Vijay left for New Delhi on Sunday evening to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a second round of questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, in which 41 people lost their lives last year.

He arrived in Delhi late at night to appear before the central probe team on Monday.

Party sources said Vijay advanced his travel plans due to severe fog and cold weather in the national capital, which could disrupt flight operations and delay his appearance before the agency on Monday morning.

Vijay had earlier appeared before the agency on January 12, when he was questioned for nearly seven hours. While the questioning was scheduled to continue the next day, Vijay sought time, citing Pongal festivities. The request was accepted, with the agency asking him to appear again upon receiving a fresh summons.

Accordingly, the CBI issued a summons earlier this week, directing Vijay to appear for the next round of questioning on Monday morning. Though he was initially scheduled to fly out from Chennai early on Monday, the actor decided to leave a day earlier to avoid any weather-related delays in Delhi.
He is expected to return to Chennai late Monday night after the questioning is complete.

Meanwhile, TVK general secretary N Anand announced that the party's election manifesto committee will meet at the party headquarters in Panaiyur on January 20. The meeting will focus on shaping the party's manifesto in line with people's expectations and the State's long-term development goals, he said.
