CHENNAI: Southern Railway has announced changes in the pattern of train services following the approval of a fixed time corridor block in the Madurai Division for the month of January 2026.
1. Train No 16128 Guruvayur Express, leaving Guruvayur at 11.15 pm from January 1, 2026 to January 30, 2026, except January 5 ,6, 12 - 15, 19, 20, and 25-27, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Tiruchchirappalli, skipping stoppages at Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul and Manapparai.
2. Train No 16352 Nagercoil–Mumbai CSMT Express, commencing on January 4, 8, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25 and 29, 2026, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Tiruchchirappalli, skipping stoppages at Madurai and Dindigul.
3. Further, Train No 12666 Kanniyakumari–Howrah Superfast Express, commencing on January 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2026, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Tiruchchirappalli, skipping stoppages at Madurai, Kodaikanal Road and Dindigul.
4. Train No 07229 Kanniyakumari–Hyderabad Special, commencing on January 2, 9, 23 and 30, 2026, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Dindigul, skipping stoppages at Madurai, Kodaikanal and Dindigul.
Additional stoppages of these trains will be provided at Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikkudi and Pudukkottai.
5. Meanwhile, Train No 16340 Nagercoil–Mumbai CSMT Express, commencing on January 2, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 19, 20, 23, 27 and 30, 2026, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Tiruchchirappalli, skipping stoppages at Madurai, Kodaikanal Road and Dindigul. Additional stoppages will be provided at Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai and Tiruchchirappalli.
6. In addition, Train No 22631 Madurai–Bikaner Express, commencing on January 8, 2026, will be rescheduled by 25 minutes.
