MADURAI: HR&CE Minister PK Sekarbabu on Monday launched a scheme providing hot milk for the young children of devotees at Subramania Swamy temple in Tiruchendur.

The scheme has been implemented in ten temples, including Tiruchendur Subramania Swamy temple, as per instructions and guidance from Chief Minister MK Stalin, Sekarbabu said.

Earlier during the budget session 2025-26, an announcement was made for providing hot milk for the young children of devotees in temples located in Tiruchendur, Tiruvarangam, Samayapuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruthani, Anaimalai, Bannari, Tiruparankundram, Maruthamalai and in Periyapalayam. Now, the announcement has been implemented, the HRCE minister said.

Further, he said arrangements were reviewed ahead of the consecration ceremony of Tiruchendur temple, scheduled to be held on July 7. Lakhs of devotees are expected to take part in the consecration ceremony. The minister said he was happy that the consecration would be performed in a grand manner, like how it is done when M Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister. With cooperation from local minister Anitha R Radhakrishnan, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Thoothukudi MP and officials from the District Administration, development works are progressing well in the temple, Sekarbabu said.

The minister, along with Collector K Elambahavath, inspected development works underway on the temple premises for four hours from 8 pm on Sunday, without disturbing devotees. Development works in the hair offering hall and approach road to Nalikinaru are underway to facilitate devotees.
