After the boy regained consciousness, police conducted an inquiry. He identified himself as Anbu Amuthan, son of Selvam, a resident from Devamangalam near Jayankondam.
He also told the police that he came to Kadaramkondan village along with his father in a two wheeler and he fell down on the way while his father continued his journey. Since the boy had severe injuries, he was referred to the Kumbakonam GH for further treatment.
Meanwhile, police went in search of the boy’s father Selvam and was shocked find him lying unconscious along the road half a kilometer away from the spot where the boy had fallen off. Selvam too had injuries and was rushed to the Jayankondam GH.
Police found that Selvam was a coolie in Tirupur and has been living with the family since lockdown. He went to Kadaramkondan village for a family function and consumed alcohol there. Unfortunately, Selvam told the police that he was unaware that his son had fallen off the bike.
