CHENNAI: Condemning the BJP-led union government's attempt to infuse communal venom into the education sector in the country, the DMK student's wing on Wednesday announced that it would undertake a rationalist campaign among students to counter the BJP's attempts to saffronise education.
Announcing this, DMK Students' wing secretary and Kancheepuram MLA CVMP Ezhilarasan said that on behalf of the student's wing, a rationalist campaign would be undertaken among students to defeat the unscientific and communal campaign of the BJP.
Strongly condemning the BJP's conspiracy to saffronize education in Tamil Nadu, a state in which rationalist ideas were inculcated in the students by Periyar, Anna, Kalaignar and now Chief Minister M K Stalin Dravidian model government, Ezhilarasan said that when the global nations were competing and excelling in the field of Artificial Intelligence, the BJP regime at the Centre was spending crores of money on the retrograde idea of imposing religion in education.
BJP planting religious bigotry among students
Accusing the BJP regime of attempting to plant casteist and communal sentiments among the students on the pretext of spirituality through the ‘Kasi Tamil Sangamam’, the DMK MLA said that the fascist BJP regime, which has been organizing several events since 2022 in the garb of reestablishing the link between Kasi and Tamil Nadu through the Kasi Tamil Sangamam, has taken up ‘Agathiya Sage’ as the theme this year.
Referring to the engagement of students between Class IV and VIII from various schools in the city on Tuesday for a rally organized as a part of the Kasi Tamil Sangamam, Ezhilarasan said, "The BJP has been advancing communal hate politics by dividing people and destroying their unity. Now, it has started planting religious hatred among school and college students. It is highly condemnable. Since the day it assumed office, the BJP, in the pretext of promoting nationalism, has been executing its Hindutva (political) action plan among students and blunting their scientific and rational temper."
