Reporter’s diary: Party not formed yet but Rajini fans ready with flags

No prizes for guessing it though as the famous symbol has appeared on the Rajini Makkal Mandram website and fan meets, which has made RMM members take to it as the symbol of the party. Rajinikanth had himself — while explaining his concept of ‘spiritual politics’ — spoken about the image: “It is a yoga mudra – and the serpent surrounding the hand, depicts the concept of divinity.”

The symbol first came to light in his 2002 film Baba. Rajini Makkal Mandram members told this reporter, “Since Thalaivar himself has used it many times, including the day he announced his entry into politics, we are sure that it is going to be the crest. So, we have taken the liberty of printing flags already. Many of us fans are planning to wave the flags outside theatres during the 2.0 release, so as to show everyone that we are all set for his entry soon.”

But, no word has been revealed officially on this front, with the 67-year-old’s camp also tight-lipped about the veracity of the party symbol. A source, however, revealed that the term ‘Makkal’ could be included in the name of the party, akin to political contemporary Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam.
