On the sidelines of two-month long Chennai Ninth Rainbow Pride Month celebrations that began on Thursday, the organisers of the Tamil Nadu Rainbow Coalition (TNRC), have put forth their demands including access to stigma-free and quality healthcare for the LGBTIQA+ communities in the state.
TNRC has also sought reversal of the Koushal judgement of Dec 11, 2013, and amendment of Section 377 by all state governments. Organisers have also demanded the revival of TN Aravani Welfare Board and to make it more inclusive as per SC NALSA ruling.
They have demanded action against healthcare professionals, religious groups and families, who forcefully change the sexual orientation or gender identity through medication, shock therapy or by forcing them into marriage. Festival includes cultural performances, sensitisation programmes on sexuality and gender identity, health information talks, solidarity events, films and poster making sessions. Chennai Rainbow Pride march will be held on June 25.
