Tripura trio, Kodai youth held for drug possession
In another arrest made by Valasaravakkam Police, a 22-year-old youth wanted in a meth peddling case was secured, three months after his accomplice was arrested

CHENNAI: Four persons were arrested in separate cases by the city police for alleged possession of narcotic substances. A juvenile delinquent has also been secured apart from the four persons, police said.
In Periamet police limits, the ANIU (Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit) of the city police acted on a tip-off about the movement of drugs and coordinated with the local police and kept vigil at Patnool Sardar Jung Street on Wednesday night.
On noticing a group of four loitering suspiciously, the police team rounded them up for questioning. Since they gave evasive replies, police checked their bags and found them to be in possession of 14.97 gram of heroin.
Periamet police arrested Sharif Mian (23), Mohammed Hussain (36) and Sagar Debnath (24) -- all three from Tripura. The trio were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The minor boy who was part of the gang was sent to a government home for boys.
In another arrest made by Valasaravakkam Police, a 22-year-old youth wanted in a meth peddling case was secured, three months after his accomplice was arrested.
In February this year, Valasaravakkam police had arrested D Boopalan (21) of Saligramam after he was caught with four grams of methamphetamine.
Police who were tracing his network zeroed in on another youth who was also into meth peddling.
After searches, a police team secured J Joy Sujaykumar (22) of Kodaikkanal from a hideout. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
