Chennai: MTC crew rushes ailing passenger to hospital, earns praise

According to MTC, a passenger travelling on Route 570 between Kelambakkam and Koyambedu Bus Terminus suddenly became unwell and nearly fainted near Guru Nanak College in Velachery

CHENNAI: The Metropolitan Transport Corporation on Saturday honoured two of its employees for their prompt response in helping a passenger who fell ill while travelling on a city bus.

According to MTC, a passenger travelling on route no. 570 between Kelambakkam and Koyambedu Bus Terminus suddenly became unwell and almost fainted near Guru Nanak College in Velachery on Friday.

Driver Winslee Rajan and conductor Sivaraja, from the Perumbakkam depot, acted swiftly and ensured that the passenger was taken to Government Hospital in Guindy.

Recognising their timely intervention, MTC officials honoured the two crew members at the Perumbakkam depot on Saturday.

Commending their actions, MTC said the incident underscored that public transport is not just about taking passengers to their destinations but also about caring for people in times of need. The corporation expressed its heartfelt appreciation for the duo's humanity, dedication and exemplary public service.
