The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) declared Class 12 results on Tuesday morning, according to which of the 8,33,682 candidates who appeared through schools 7,61,725 passed the exam registering pass percentage of 91.4 per cent. Students who scored centum in Physics dropped drastically from 124 in 2015 to a mere 5 this year.
Students scoring full marks in Mathematics too dipped significantly, the number went down from 9,710 in 2015 to 3,361 this year, the number of centums in Computer Science too has seen a drop for the past three years from 993 in 2014 to 303 this year.
Even though students felt Chemistry paper was tough in this year’s government board exam those scoring full marks went up from 1,049 last year to 1,703 this year, 775 students bagged centum in Biology, an increase of 388 this year. It was not only Biology which saw more centums but Commerce too, 2,265 more students scored full marks this year (3,084).
D Vasundaradevi, the Director of Government Examinations said, a total of 4,99,463 candidates secured an aggregate of 60 per cent and more marks this year whereas the number was 5,03,318 last year. Girls among school candidates outdid the boys securing 94.4 per cent pass percentage and boys secured 87.9 per cent.
