Nirmal Kumar (17) of Pallavaram, and Sabarinathan (17) and Dharmarajan (19) of Alwarpet, all first-year college students, went to the beach on Monday afternoon to catch up with schoolmates Salman Khan, Sakthivel and Aakash, whom they had not met after completing school.
While Nirmal, Sabarinathan and Dharmarajan went for a swim, the others went to buy snacks. As they could not find the trio up on return, the others alerted the police patrol. Trained police divers, joined by personnel from Fire and Rescue Services personnel and Coast Guard with helicopters immediate began the search, but were not able to trace the missing boys till late evening.
