The company is upbeat about a slew of projects that will enable it to reach the Rs 3,000 crore revenue mark by 2021.
“In 2009, JLPL clocked a sales turnover of Rs 419 crore with 5,200 units. This year, we have crossed Rs 2,000 crore with 12,000+ units being delivered, thereby ensuring a pan-India market leading share of over 20%,” said Yohan John, Director, JLPL.
From two factories in 2009, Johnson Lifts has expanded to four factories in 2019 with a combined facility that produces 16,000 Lifts per annum. “Foreseeing the growth in lift requirements and the need for heavy duty escalators, a new integrated, fully automated lift factory is now ready for production at a 1.4 lakh sqm facility at Sengadu, TN. This factory will be able to produce additional 6,000 Lifts per annum. An additional line for heavy duty escalators has been installed at the Oragadam factory. This additional line will be able to produce 500 Escalators per annum” he added.
JLPL envisages an investment of Rs 125 crore for the integrated facility while it has earmarked Rs 13 cr for the additional line for manufacturing heavy duty escalators.
It has presence in five countries (Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Dubai and Myanmar), while its coverage in India is through 54 branches with 10,000 strong employees. Despite MNCs having entered the domestic market, Johnson Lifts continues to be No 1 in India, manufacturing over 12,000 units annually. “There has been a significant growth in the opportunities available owing to the major urban infrastructure development programs. These have also attracted many MNC players, bringing in stiff competition in the segment. Johnson Lifts has withstood this competition and been able to retain the numero uno position in the market,” said V Jagannathan, ED, Johnson Lifts.
“In the proposed integrated terminal at the Chennai airport (part of the phase two modernisation project), we have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install 41 lifts, 50 escalators & 12 moving walks. We have also been awarded by the Metro rail the additional requirement of 32 escalators and 39 lifts to be installed in nine stations from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar” said Albert Dhiraviyam, Country Head – Marketing.
