Passengers slam airlines’ no refund stand
Passengers whose air tickets got cancelled due to the lockdown are put to hardship with the airlines, instead of refunding, are putting the money in passenger’s Credit Shell.
Chennai
This money in the Credit Shell, a form of credit note, will have to be spent on another air ticket with the same operator within a year.
The passengers are upset over the announcement and claim that they need the full refund as money in their bank account. The leading airlines like Air India, Spice Jet, Indigo, Go Air and Vistara had announced that the money will be automatically added in the credit shell and can be used by them to travel in the future. While the other airlines had given one year time to use the money, the Vistara airlines said it should be used within December.
A passenger said, “I had booked a ticket to Delhi for an emergency. There is no need for me to travel in flight again. It is not fair on part of the airlines to compel me to make an unwanted trip by locking my
money.”
Most of the passengers posted grievances on social media and they claimed said the Centre should look into the issue.
Airline sources said the flight services are badly hit and in the current situation, it is not possible to return the money
