    Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Wednesday said that Punjab is the first State in the country which has implemented Industry friendly policy-2017 and provided scores of facilities for the new as well as the existing industries.

    Stating this while chairing a meeting of the newly appointed Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Directors concerned with Districts and Members of the various boards and corporations here, he said that the Industry and Commerce department is working as a team to ensure that the permissions sought regarding establishing new industrial units are accorded in time. He asked the new appointed Chairmen to exhort the youth of the state to start their own micro, small and medium enterprises.

    Mr Arora said that the efforts of the Punjab government have led to the investment of Rs 50000 crore in the two years of the present government. This would lead to job avenues for the unemployed youth.

    He also said that the permissions to be sought from 23 departments are being accorded under one roof as per the single window system. The business first portal has come as a big relief to the industrial sector. The consumption of power during last two years has increased 22 per cent owing to facilities like power at Rs five per unit. The industry friendly policies have resulted in huge benefits to the industrial sector, he added.
