Suspected Nipah patient critical
The condition of a man admitted to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) here with Nipah Virus symptoms turned critical.

Jipmer Medical Superintendent Ashok Bhade said, the man’s condition deteriorated on Thursday and he has been put on ventilator. A team of doctors are constantly monitoring hiscondition.
 The reports of his blood sample sent to Pune virology Institute is expected by Thursday night or Friday and treatment in accordance with the report would be given on its receipt.
It may be noted that the man hailing from Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu and working at Guruvayur in Kerala was admitted to Jipmer on June 10 with symptoms of Nipah, including high fever.
Soon after the case appeared in the media, panic gripped several parts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Only on Wednesday, the JIPMER allayed fears of people about Nipah virus presence in the Union Territory region and border areas in Tamil Nadu.
