Mamata's dream of TMC becoming deciding factor for next Govt at Centre dashed
Ms Banerjee has been claiming that in 2019 poll BJP will be finished and TMC would be a deciding factor to form a central government with all 42 seats win in Bengal.
Kolkata
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's repeated pre-poll claims that her Trinamool Congress would be a deciding factor in forming a non-BJP government at the Centre were not only dashed as BJP was leading in 19 Lok Sabha seats out of total 42 Parliament constituencies as trend was available at 1830 hours.
While the TMC was leading in 22 seats, Congress candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was leading at Baharampur in Murshidabad and Left parties headed by CPI(M) appears to be banished.
Ms Banerjee has been claiming that in 2019 poll BJP will be finished and TMC would be a deciding factor to form a central government with all 42 seats win in Bengal.
Barring a tweet, Ms Banerjee has been keeping a low profile for the day after the BJP-led NDA government received a massive mandate for successive elections in 2014 and 2019.
Two assembly bypoll results at Darjeeling and Bhatpara saw the BJP candidates winners out of total eight segments where BJP was also leading in two seats.
In her twitter account of the day, Ms Banerjee said " Congratulations to the winners. But all losers are not losers. We have to do a complete review and then we will share our views with you all. Let the counting process be completed fully and the VVPATs matched."
BJP state president Dilip Ghosh who appeared to be a winner from Medinipur Lok Sabha seat congratulated the people for voting the saffron brigade in large number and said their fight against dictatorial TMC regime would be continued.
He was leading more than 1 lakh votes over TMC candidate Manas Bhunia.
BJP candidate from Asansol and Union minister Babul Supriyo, who also on verge to retain the seat, said " The result of the elections is due to the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji's directiveness that inspired BJP members & supporters to dynamically work towards the cause of BJP for India."
He also congratulated the people.
The voting pattern show that the voters split between TMC and BJP across the state to have a deciding mandate.
However, veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was set to return from Baharampur was an exception.
In 2014 poll TMC had 34, Congress 4, BJP and CPI(M) two each.
