Country needs a majboot and not majboor government: Modi
Modi claimed that Deepawali in Ayodhya has earned international sanctity and 15 religious circuits have connected religion with development.
New Delhi
Amid slogans of 'Jai Sree Ram', Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday warned of terror threats in places of faith and asked people opt for a 'majboot' (strong) government and not a 'majboor' (helpless) one.
The PM, raking up the issue of terror attack in Ayodhya and Faizabad in the past, claimed that the threat of terror still persists and terrorism is the only industry of our neighbouring country and they want a weak government in India to succeed in their nefarious designs.
He criticised the SP and BSP, saying they had "turned a blind eye towards the issue of terrorism in the past" and that terror group are just waiting for a majboor government in the country, he said.
He further said that the recent terror attacks in Sri Lanka in churches shows that now terrorists would aim to target our country too. "A strong government could only give a befitting reply to them. We, during the past 5 years had never succumbed to any pressure. We have replied with bullet to every bullet," he said.
Addressing an election meeting here at Gosaiganj, just near the Ambedkarnagar-Ayodhya border, the PM did not mention Ram temple, but his slogan of 'Jai Sree Ram' at the end indicated his commitment towards the issue.
Modi claimed that Deepawali in Ayodhya has earned international sanctity and 15 religious circuits have connected religion with development. "The Ramayan circuit which starts from Ayodhya will go up to Rameshwaram, developing all the places related to Lord Ram," he said.
"This is the land of Lord Ram. This is the land of self-respect. This self-esteem has got a major boost in the past five years. We have connected 130 crores of people together through faith and tradition. Now, with the strength of these people, the country is moving towards realizing the dream of a new India," Mr Modi said.
He also slammed the SP, BSP and the Congress and said: "Be it SP, BSP or Congress, it is necessary to know their reality. Behen ji (BSP supremo Mayawati) used the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar but did everything which is just the opposite of his principles. The SP used the name of Lohia ji but they destroyed the law and order situation in UP and did not follow his ideology. Similarly, for the past 70 years, Congress raised Garibi Hatao slogan, but did nothing for it."
On the occasion of the international Labour day, the PM greeted the labourers and workers and reiterated his commitment for their uplift.
"The previous governments did nothing for the working class but we came and immediately announced the minimum pension of Rs 1,000 per month while giving the labourer Rs 3,000 pension under Shramik Samman Yojna," he said.
Besides, the PM said that the NDA government had given several other sops, including free medical assistance to them under Ayushman Bharat and insurance scheme in which already Rs 3,500 crore claim have been paid during the past one-and-a-half years.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present on the occasion along with BJP candidates from the nearby constituencies. The PM arrived around two-and-a-half hour late in the election meeting.
The PM is slated to address his second meeting in Kaushambi later in the day.
